Developments on the Nursery: This week we have been saying goodbye to some of our members of staff Rebecca has been working with us now for 3 years and is off to pastures new and we wish her good luck in her new job Our summer students, Becky and James have also left to go back to University We will miss them all
Come along and visit the Nursery this weekend
Hardy's on the Road This weekend will see us at the National Gardening Show at Shepton Mallet, Bath & West Showground as well as Robert Hardy attending Wolverton Manor Plant Fair on the Isle of Wight
Hardy's Gardening Tip for the Week: Lots of your summer herbaceous perennials will be setting seeds so this will be the time to be collecting them whilst the weather is still good and the seed heads are dry. Make sure you collect seeds in paper bags and label clearly what you have collected Ensuring that you do not touch the seeds with your hands |
DIASCIA
DIASCIA
SCROPHULARIACEAE
Twinspur is grown mainly for its masses of flowers, over a long period throughout the summer.
About 50 species, both annual and perennial, can be found in the wild in Africa. There are also many garden hybrids, which are being developed to produce more compact plants with increased flowering capabilities.
These tend to be short-lived perennials and they require full sun and very free-draining soil to cope with winter conditions. Often, they are grown as container or hanging basket plants and treated as annual.
