Come along and visit the Nursery this weekend
Hardy's on the Road This weekend will see us at the National Gardening Show at Shepton Mallet, Bath & West Showground as well as Robert Hardy attending Wolverton Manor Plant Fair on the Isle of Wight
Hardy's Gardening Tip for the Week: Lots of your summer herbaceous perennials will be setting seeds so this will be the time to be collecting them whilst the weather is still good and the seed heads are dry. Make sure you collect seeds in paper bags and label clearly what you have collected Ensuring that you do not touch the seeds with your hands |
DELPHINIUM
DELPHINIUM
RANUNCULACEAE
With their tall spires of flowers these are a popular garden perennial. Although most cultivated hybrids bloom in early summer, mainly in shades of blue, there are many species that flower in spring or late summer and have flowers in almost every possible colour. All parts are poisonous.
There are more than 350 different species, which are almost entirely native to the northern hemisphere, with the exception of a few species that grow in the mountainous regions of East Africa. Most are found in California and western China.
These grow best in a sunny position, with fertile, but well-drained soil.
