CROCOSMIA

CROCOSMIA

IRIDACEAE

These plants grow from corms and produce tall, grass-like foliage and sprays of yellow, orange or red flowers from mid-summer to autumn.

There are only nine species, of which eight are native to South Africa and one to Madagascar, but there are hundreds of cultivars and hybrids to be found in gardens.

They thrive best in full sun, and require a fertile soil that does not dry out too much during the growing season, or become waterlogged in winter.
