Plantain is a wide ranging genus, from well-known weeds to attractive garden varieties. Most are grown for their foliage, although they also produce narrow spikes of tiny flowers.
There are over 250 annual, perennial and shrubby species, growing in most areas of the world, although few of these are found in cultivation.
They are very easy to grow in almost any soil type. They prefer sun, but will also tolerate part shade.
