Whiteweed is grown for its dense clusters of fluffy white, blue, lilac or purple flowers, throughout summer. They are familiar to many as annual bedding plants, but there are perennial types available. However, these are tender and may require protection in winter.
There are about 45 species, native mainly to South and Central America, although a few are found in the southern states of the USA.
They do best in full sun and require well-drained soil.
