SCROPHULARIA
SCROPHULARIA
SCROPHULARIACEAE
Figwort is used as a medicinal herb, but is also grown as an ornamental. Most species are foul smelling to attract wasps for pollination.
There are about 200 biennial and perennial species native to temperate areas in the northern hemisphere, but only one variegated cultivar is grown in gardens.
They do best in part-shade, with humus-rich, but well-drained soil.
