Known as Scabious or Pincushion Flower, these plants attract bees and butterflies and many flower for a long period during summer. They are available in a range of colours.

There are about 80 annual, biennial and perennial species, growing in dry situations in the Mediterranean, Asia and Africa.

They grow best in full sun, with well-drained soil and prefer alkaline conditions. They are ideal for natural plantings.
