Known as Jacob’s Ladder or Sky Pilot, this plant produces clusters of flowers that are usually blue, pink or white, although there are also purple and yellow forms.

There are 25 annual and perennial species to be found across the northern hemisphere and in South America, growing in a range of habitats from rocky mountain areas to damp grassland.

They grow best in well-drained, but fertile soil, in sun or part-shade.
