This is a genus of umbellifers, which produce flowers in white, pink, purple or yellow and usually have cut foliage. 

There are over 150 annual, biennial and perennial species, native to a wide area across Europe and Asia and in North Africa. However, only one is found in cultivation and it is a pink-flowered form of this species that is usually grown in gardens. 

They grow best in full sun and moist soil.
