LIBERTIA
LIBERTIA
IRIDACEAE
These plants are grown for their clumps of stiffly upright, grass-like foliage, which is often attractively variegated or coloured. They are also valued for their spikes of flower and subsequent berries.
There are 20 evergreen species, all originating in the southern hemisphere, mainly in South Africa and New Zealand.
They require full sun and a fertile, but free-draining soil, although some varieties do better on poorer soils.
