LIATRIS

LIATRIS

ASTERACEAE

Blazing Star or Gayfeather is a perennial that produces tall spikes of ragged flowers, which open from the top of the stem to the bottom. They are good for attracting bees and butterflies.

Close to 40 species can be found across North America, growing in open woodland and on the prairies, but always on poor, dry soil.

They grow best on average, well-drained soil, in full sun. They dislike winter wet.
