Nursery Diary 05/03/10
Developments on the Nursery: This week, we have opened the gates to the nursery for the 2010 season. We are now open 7 days a week, from 10am - 5pm, until the end of September. The sales area on the nursery has been re-arranged, to make it easier for you to find the plants that you are looking for. It also means that you can be sure that you are choosing plants that are rooted down and ready for sale, not those that are newly potted. So come and pay us a visit and try it for yourself! Also, we have finished potting all of the bare-root stock, so these items, including some of our new varieties for 2010, will be available in the sales area soon. Sadly this week, Tansy, the border collie belonging to nursery manager, Hilary, passed away. She was a familiar face around the nursery and will be much missed.
Hardy's on the Road: Rosy and Rob Hardy are continuing with their spring talks, at various gardening clubs and organisations, with four dates booked in the next two weeks. And Rob will be at Petersfield Farmers' Market on Sunday 7th March, from 10am-2pm.
Hardy's Gardening Tip for the Week: Although signs of spring are now beginning to appear, it is still too early to touch many plants that were not cut back in the autumn, such as Penstemon and Verbena. Do not be tempted to cut anything back until there is plenty of young growth developing and the severest winter weather has passed. |
